We always try to keep out children as safe as we possibly can. We try to baby proof, buy the safest products and are always careful who we trust them around. The problem is that often the person who is going to hurt them is us as the parents. The important thing to remember is that it happens to all of us and it doesn’t make you a bad parent. As a pediatrician, it has happened many times to me as well. Just remember when your spouse is the cause of your child’s injury that there is a lot of guilt associated with injuring your child…don’t add to it. The next time it happens it could be due to you and you will want the same courtesy extended to you.
